"Frequently Returned Item" Badge Applied Despite 0% Return Rate – Anyone Else Facing This?

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

One of my listings recently got flagged with the "Frequently Returned Item" badge, but here's the strange part — the return rate for this product is literally zero. I double-checked both recent and long-term return reports, and there’s not a single return recorded.

This is obviously impacting my conversion rate, and I’m concerned it might also affect my listing’s long-term performance. I’ve opened a case with Seller Support, but so far, the responses have been generic and haven’t addressed the core issue.

Has anyone else encountered this kind of situation? Could it be a glitch in Amazon’s algorithm, or is it based on something we’re not shown in Seller Central?

Any insights, shared experiences, or advice on how to escalate this effectively would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

If it's your own product then I have no explanation.

If it's just that you're the only seller, then maybe Amazon amalgamate returns from different sellers even across different marketplaces?

Or maybe there have been people who have listed it previously who had high return rates and Amazon included legacy data when they brought this in?

I am experiencing the same issue. My product has returns, two returns per month should be ok thought. I have also contacted seller support multiple times, but I always receive the same generic responses. I requested proof to demonstrate how the return rate is considered high but I have not received any.

I have had it added to one of my listings and opened a case with amazon as the listing actually has a return rate of 3.4% despite have 3 returns in around a two month period with over 100 units sold. One of which was because they had 'been gifted the same candle twice'.

Amazon said there was nothing they could do and i should 'amend' my listing. So pretty useless advice. I pushed them again and again and they ended up saying that it was pretty much something they are rolling out with AI and that we wont be able to argue or change that red pop up even if its incorrect..... so fun times ahead it seems. My listing also dropped in sales and actually tanked the sales of my other items as they are intertwines as variations on the same listing. I told them its a huge scam and not a smart way for Amazon to make money as will damage our sales therefore damaging their income.... stupid really

Maybe not, customers might not buy your product but they might buy something else on Amazon.
