Well that went smoother than expected Amazon
I'm amazed, so credit where it is due, some Amazon verification systems work.
After opening a second company my accountant in his wisdom put it together with my original company into a VAT group. HMRC in their wisdom decided to quash the old VAT number and issue a completely new one for the group, of course negating everywhere I had the old number lodged (why they couldn't just use the old one I do not know).
Imagine my dread when I remembered I'd need to change it in Seller Central, visions of account deactivation, funds withheld and complete reverification instantly sprung to mind so admittedly I put it off for a while.
Today I thought it has to be done at some point so read the instructions and that said to first remove the old VAT number first (assumed deactivation would be instant at that point) so gingerly pressed the button. Nothing happened except the old VAT number disappeared and an email arrived telling me I'd been unsubscibed from auto invoicing. Surprised I still had access to Seller Central I entered the new VAT number remembering to add GB in front and expected to need to upload new VAT certificate etc but nothing, it just said verifying. At that point I went to make a coffee expecting emails of what I'd need to upload etc. But no, nothing arrived.
10 mins later I plucked up the courage to refresh the page and to my amazement, without uploading a single document or being deactivated at all it said verified. Thinking I was hallucinating I went away from the page and came back, still verified with the new number. I've rejoined auto invoicing and just have to wait severn days for that to become active so perhaps a few invoice uploads for any business orders and that's it.
